[ he won't be able to see under the mask, but tsurumaru can sneak a peak at their hair underneath the hood - long bangs that hang between their eyes and frame their face, all of it glowing that same gold of dust. ]

Nine was one of ours. And Bertolt-kun told Kotetsu he was, too. Is it true?

... Did you get to speak to him when you and the others led him away?

[grigori]

No, we didn't hang around long. We did say we'd try to argue against the execution.

[cranelike]

Kotetsu spoke to him for a while, I think... he learned quite a bit, too.

He told him an "Angel" told him to kill. (Watching Yomiel to see if hec an read anything from his reaction (or lack of) that might follow,) Do you know anything about this?

[grigori]

[ they pause, lips pressed together in a thin line. ]

An "angel." [ they speak slowly, as if testing the word. ] As in... one of us, the Watchers, or someone else? Did he say?

They said if he did it, he could return home and see his friends. Kotetsu thinks he had a choice but... Bertolt was young and the world he came from, while unkind, was important. It's hardly a choice.

I know there's supposedly a "messenger" out there that isn't one of us, but that's all. Whether that has anything to do with Hoover, I can't say.

[cranelike]
