There's... a dispute that we're supposed to help settle. My guess was that you would agree or disagree based on the values of the ones who approached you, but you were never given that chance.

I'll be speaking with them too, make no mistake, but I still would rather hear what I can from the both of you. Especially because at this point I don't know if we were never told anything at all, or if we were and chose to help, but then forgot it for whatever reason.

I was told that participating could help many people, and save lives, both in my world and others. That's why I agreed.

... a lofty aspiration.

Then, the outcome of what happens here... the consequences will be that far-reaching?

Just like everything else, we can't confirm that for sure.

[ softly, like an apology. ]

There is a chance that it's the case, though. I think we should expect that all our worlds are among the ones that could be in trouble.

[trickedges]

No one said anything about any trouble for our homes before this.

[ this. feels like pertinent information to have, but... ]

You don't know for sure, and you can't confirm that for sure are different things. [ but. tsk. if they have to work with the assumption that there is a threat, going forward... ] Are the spectres the threats in question, or would it be something else, if that's something you can answer?

Well, that could also be to try to help ease you guys into this as much as we can...? It wouldn't help anyone if there was a big panic. Not... that much of this has been an easy adjustment for you guys, but still.

Are there worse things than spectres in this world?

It's not like we can tell you guys what to think of us. If we look that way to you, then we do. It doesn't change the truth of what we know or don't know.

In this world... no. I think the spectres are the worst thing here.

You can't tell us what to think, no. It's your actions that you'll be judged by. You're fully in control of the timing of when you tell us the things you do know and are allowed to tell us.

[ even if that seems to be the only thing they have control over. ]

No, we don't. Believe me, though, I'll keep trying to get you guys the information you need. If it takes a little dust to find my limits, then I can take it.

... Don't push yourself too hard finding those limits. If you discorporate yourself entirely then we won't be receiving any information at all, after all.

That said if it's supposed to be a punishment to prevent you from saying things you shouldn't I imagine the duration of it could change if they think you haven't learned your lesson properly... But what do I know, you're the Watcher between the two of us.
