But rather, what surprises me is that you have multiple for each team, not simply one individual for one team and one for another. Angels of a kind, I'm guessing?

It has, of course. But then that leads to the options of "they are doing this because they're getting something rather good out of it" or "they literally cannot rebel, as that would result in quite grave punishment".

And I have yet to ascertain which it may be, if not both.

Could be a little of both, or neither. Maybe it didn't even matter who they chose, because someone would have ended up in this position no matter what. People with power are like that sometimes.

To use power to lord over others to do their bidding...ah. I will admit, it irritates me just to think about it. That would simply call for action to bring down the person in question, wouldn't it? Not even call, it would beg for it.
