ROLE: SNAKE flat

WE ALL KNOW ONE OR ARE ONE

On Monday, at 12 PM EST / 9 AM PST / 11 AM CST, Jack catches Flat's attention. Both will innately know that they have somewhere to be, and Jack will be able to lead the way—even if they've never been there before. His form changes, as they're accustomed to, but takes that of a snake, and upon reaching their destination, they will be greeted by the Watchers.

After finishing their business, Flat and Jack will not be able to return to this location again without being invited back, regardless of whether they attempt to return on the same day or in the same week. Jack will be able to take his snake form again on his own, but will revert to one of his original forms upon leaving. Flat and Jack both will both know that this form cannot be shared openly, and that caution should be practiced with sharing it privately, as well.


As the snake, Jack will be given a new task with each new week. Though the specific tasks may vary, all must be completed before Friday at 6 PM EST / 3 PM PST / 5 PM CST. Should Jack report successful task completion in time, they may be rewarded. Should they fail, they may be punished.

Additionally, Jack may use this time to speak directly with the Celestials each week. He may ask questions, receive small hints, or simply chat with them, though any information received will be subject to the Watchers' own discretion.

★ You will be given one task each week, to be completed by Friday at 6 PM EST / 3 PM PST / 5 PM CST.
★ If the task is completed and reported by the deadline, you may receive a reward.
★ If the task is not completed on time, you may be punished.
★ If you are asked to murder, you will not be allowed to confess before or during trial, and no evidence will be left behind pointing to you.

Guess there's a way for you to really help after all, huh?

[ jack slithers up flat’s arm, hanging like a limp noodle. ]

Though what’s this actually going to help, Suriel? I mean, not that I’m not happy about the job! Thank you, really! It’s just that…after yesterday…

[ he’s unsure of who or what they’re actually helping? ]

[grigori]

It feels a little weird, doesn't it?

[ they aren't unsympathetic! ]

My understanding is that the things you'll be asked to do will help us keep tabs on our team, and help spread information to among everyone. It might help if you can figure out who's on our team, but anything you learn or share should be useful to someone.

[escardos]

So… like a spy!

[ oh, that’s actually really cool. a little terrifying, too, but he likes the thrill. ]

Does that mean that there’s other people with other…roles?

[grigori]

Kind of!

[ they open their mouth to answer the rest, and... poof! there's just a cloud of gold dust where suriel was. ]

[escardos]

Ah—!

[ jack looks mildly unimpressed as suriel turns to dust, but flat immediately pales and kneels down next to the cloud of dust in a seiza pose. ]

I’m so sorry, Suriel! I didn’t mean to make you into pixie dust!

[grigori]

[ they'll be back in just a moment, with a soft groan... but then they look at flat and startle. ]

Eh? You don't have to do that, Mister Escardos, it's okay! Let me try again... I guess I can't tell you for certain if there are others with roles, but if you go looking for any, please just be careful about what you say? Especially for someone on the Temporals' side. It could be dangerous for you.

Actually, Suriel, that reminds me...what's with this competition-thing? Wouldn't it be better to unite our forces?

Mm... It's not that I don't agree with you, because I do. It would be better if everyone could work together, but the whole reason we're here is because the two sides couldn't coexist peacefully. Without knowing the reasons why they couldn't do that, I don't know how successful we could be.

[escardos]

...Just like the clock tower...

[ he cups his chin, thinking. ]

So when does this end? This "competition"?

[grigori]

Clock tower...?

That's... not something I can answer yet. I'm sorry. [ a bow of their head. ] What we do know is that there has to be clear winner.

That's where I study.

[ hmm.... ]

And what's the prize? Like, let's say that the us Celestials win, what happens?

[grigori]

So it's like a school? I didn't know you were a student, too!

As for that... We've been told that multiple worlds are in danger. Winning, for us, will mean saving countless people from whatever the Temporal side has planned.

[ their wings rustle under the cloak, drawing closer to their body. ]

We only have some hints for what that is, and I don't know how much we'd be allowed to say yet.

Mhm. I’m a student of Modern Magecraft! Are you a student too?

[ well that’s… an issue. saving countless worlds does sound a lot better, but it doesn’t seem to convince him.

oh, but his own comment does bring up another thing. ]

Is there any chance I could get my abilities back or no?

[grigori]

Yep! I'm in high school, studying to be a hero.

Magecraft, huh? That sounds pretty cool! As for getting it back... It's possible, with some limits. We probably won't be able to give you everything you're used to, for one. But one ability, sure. You can just tell us which you want, and we can name a price for it - which can something like a task, or even just telling a secret.

Although... you're already being asked to do a lot by having this role. So I think if you wanted an ability back, you could ask for that as a reward.

[escardos]

Oh, that’s amazing. I never actually went to high-school, only college. Do you have a superpower? I mean, aside from all the ones you have as an angel, that is—and not like those aren’t cool! Although the turning into dust bit is pretty concerning…

[ anyways— ]

I get it, it’s like bartering. Alright, then I’ll keep it in mind! It sounds a bit fun, though I know it’s probably gonna be a lot of work.

[ he pauses, glancing at the snake. ]

Um… I have one last question…for now, that is.

Sure do! Almost everyone does where I'm from, but it's different than the ones becoming a Watcher gave me.

What is it?

If we find out that the Temporals aren’t that bad and that this is all some huge misunderstanding for some reason, would you guys be willing to work together with them? Not just you, but the rest.

[ he raises a hand to his chest. ]

I mean, obviously right now we think that they’re not good guys, but sometimes plot twists happen. Or character development.
