PAPER OF CONVO TOPICS........2

[personal profile] arcsplainist 2021-11-06 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
[ Since our other one... yeah.

Anyway! ]

There are numerous topics to discuss here—some few I hadn't considered myself, to speak true. I had thought the Magisterium the key to fighting back the angels somehow, once we're able to learn more, but in light of recent developments... Well, consider it very off the table.

Any thoughts on a particular query?

[personal profile] greatdeduction 2021-11-06 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
Well, don't count out the Magisterium out quite yet. That seems to be more of a complicated matter, since the scientists I met didn't necessarily identify as such. But we need to know more on that.

And...Rochalizo is holding something? I do not want to know exactly what it is, but...could it be used as a weapon?

[personal profile] arcsplainist 2021-11-06 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
[ Well, based on the earlier conversation... ]

'Twould be quite unfortunate if they and the "Magi", both with very similar names, did turn out to be different... As if matters needed to be further complicated. But—you are right. I do not intend on giving up seeking more simply because of grim news. In the upcoming week, 'tis my full intention to return to investigating further.

[ And then... ]

If I recall correctly, Ser Rochalizo mentioned its purpose, even if we are not wholly aware of where it must be used. I cannot think of aught else it could be utilized as besides a weapon.

[personal profile] greatdeduction 2021-11-06 03:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes the names are similar...

[And he nods at that.]

We...have to be careful regarding that, then. Let's keep it out of the wrong hands.

I wholly agree.

Speaking of important possessions... As you may know, I have been wanting to keep track of the Watchers' belongings in hopes they are rightfully returned. I take it you were able to retrieve one such item?
greatdeduction: (the speckled band)

[personal profile] greatdeduction 2021-11-08 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, actually.

I am planning to return it tomorrow, as soon as I can.

Good—'tis a relief to hear. If I may ask, whose is it?

[personal profile] greatdeduction 2021-11-08 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
[He sighs.]

Rameel's, for sure.

[ A nod. ]

Thank you, Mr. Sholmes. So this leaves us with Shamsiel as the last, unless we are granted a second chance at retrieving Baraqiel's. I know not how, but...

Anyroad. Is that all left of note?
greatdeduction: (silver blaze)

[personal profile] greatdeduction 2021-11-08 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
[Hm?]

What happened with Baraqiel's items?
arcsplainist: (pic#15244830)

[personal profile] arcsplainist 2021-11-08 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
Unfortunately, that group had failed to retrieve it, and thus returned without. Upon this realization they approached the Watchers to see if they could go back to do so, but they could not.

Getting it back is not a guarantee.

[personal profile] greatdeduction 2021-11-08 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
Oh.

[Oh.....]

That's...deeply unfortunate.
arcsplainist: (pic#13218761)

[personal profile] arcsplainist 2021-11-08 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
To say the least. I am loathe to think what this may mean for Baraqiel in the future.

[....]

[He looks over at Xie Lian, sadly, before closing his eyes.]

If there's any way to fix that...

It's fine. It was mentioned publicly.

He has a detonator for an explosive device. But we have no such device to go with it.

...If I had to guess, we need to find the pieces of that device. Right?

[ cannot believe we're going to build a bomb. ]

I could not tell you what was attached to it - I only know that it certainly worked in the catacombs. It was incredibly destructive.

[Anyway, I, Pazu, am a fool and either missed or didn't get a notif for a deda letter... !??!?! It's cool, here's the retcon.]

Actually, I got a letter from Revali that may be relevant here...

He's asking us to send advice on making "very large-scale explosives." And that it's a "long story."

The "sacrifices"? I don't recall this coming up before, but it's mentioned quite a lot here.

[Reading from it:]

"How many sacrifices will our situation need left? Do they need to fit certain criteria like team and age?"

And in these documents...

"People are being killed because of the war as sacrifices. There's a messenger coercing participants to act obediently to reach a final resolution."

They provided a list of those killed, organized by affiliation -- for those whose affiliations are publicly known.

Also among the suggested questions is:

"Another way to kill Angels without using Dust from sacrifices?"
arcsplainist: (pic#15211731)

[personal profile] arcsplainist 2021-11-06 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
... Indeed. This is the first I've heard of sacrifices, as well.

I had thought the angel that compels participants into killing was naught more than to cause despair among us—but it does, in fact, hold an intended purpose...? To... simply kill other angels, from the sounds of it.

Every week someone is approached by an Angel which leads to someone getting killed Thursday night, in a way you can consider that as the "sacrifice." [ He seems to pull out a notebook. ] Or perhaps more so the person that ends up getting executed.

In Camebit's library, I read up on some of the city's history, how the city owes its existence to the angels that had saved them from the tyranny of the "opposing power" who was once seen as their protectors. [ He'll continue, flipping through his own notebook to find a certain page. ]

One detailed what it means to be under the existence of these "saviors", which explained that even though they are safe and that things are peaceful, there will be times where they'll need to make great sacrifice.

[ ...... Ah. ]

I hadn't considered that. Though I knew the people of Camebit paid a certain price for their safety, I had thought it something else entirely...

... When I inquired as to what price it may be, they had only warned me to ware the miasma and to avoid it at all costs.

It could also be related to the calamities they have or may face. [ It's not a wrong thought, it adds more consideration to the idea. ]

Regarding our own experiences here so far though, I simply assumed it referred to the deaths we've faced.

Hard to say, is it not? My theory was that they were willing to give up their humanity in exchange for the angel's safety.

There's also the matter of... the "neutral option." And how to take it.

We know of two groups who have met angels who are neutral in this conflict -- Uriel and Raguel. Maybe they could provide some insight into how we can best proceed.

[He flips to a page in his notebook.]

Uriel asked that we find where the "Kingdom of Heaven" might be born anew. That it's within each of us, and that we'll know when we find the correct place.

We know too that unity is the key - that the Watchers have consistently asked us to tell secrets and stories of each other to each other, to bond together. And that that is likely tied to the sensation of generating Dust.

[ 'the kingdom of heaven born anew' has a special meaning for xie lian, honestly - he reaches to touch his heart, for a second. ]

...I suppose we couldn't just throw aside our alignments, of Celestials and Temporals, and create a "Heavens", instead.
