[ oh, crap. This can't be good. Rex doesn't know what to expect, but the fact that this...grotesque humanoid thing is aware and looking at the boy is setting off alarm bells in his head.
He jumps off the horse because he isn't really an accomplished horse rider and doesn't trust that he'll be able to stay discreet with it. As it is, he sprints as fast as he can towards them, as close as he can get to the boy and the monster while still having a spot to hide from its gaze.
He doesn't want to jump in without knowing what's happening, but he wants to be close enough to enter the fray if he has to. ]
[Can Ritos even ride horses? Why would you want to, when you can fly? But yeah, Revali probably can't ride a horse, haha
That giant thing is...it's staring at the boy instead of trying to squash it or something, but Revali harbors absolutely no hopes it's benign. Clearly it caused destruction in this town. No clue if it was intentionally or as an unfortunate consequence of its size, but still...
...he readies the bow, just in case. Better to be ready! This thing may be larger than most things he has fought in the past, but hey, when has Revali backed down from combat ever before?]
You. Move back.
[He says that to the boy, trying to get his attention without getting the giant thing's attention. Revali isn't approaching, though. Can the boy even hear him?
...
Probably not. But still, they really should get this guy away from the cause of this destruction]
[ Well. It's a risk, of course it is, but at least for now, the giant seems to be stable and not looking to move or attack. And our Good Boy seems to be in such a trance that he won't get out of the way on his own. So, to Revali: ]
Cover me.
[ And then he darts out from behind his little hiding spot, sprinting at the Good Boy to try and get him away, back to safety. ]
[Oh, definitely covering you, Rex! Revali isn't aiming at anything in particular yet, but he's staring right at the giant! It's unavoidable it's going to see Rex when he drags this Good Boy to safety, he figures.
And once that happens...
...well, who knows what will be the consequences of that, but it probably is going to get its attention. If they're lucky nothing will happen]
[So that's what those are called. It's fitting, somehow! Much to Revali's surprise, it didn't swat anybody when the blond one started to pull Connie away]
Fall back, Rex!
[If the seniors around here are so alarmed they decide to retire right away, hey, better listen to them! Why is this Titan always staring at Connie, though? Why is Connie so fascinating?]
[ Rex doesn't really see what all the fuss is about--his focus isn't on the creature anymore, so he doesn't see its eyes following Connie. But the anxious energy all around has him moving like he's in danger regardless. Grabbing the boy's other arm, he also starts tugging him away, running at full tilt back towards Revali and the others. ]
[When he hears the commentary about its limbs, Revali, giving the house wide berth, tries to get a good look at them. Takes a bit to do so. Huh. Look at that]
...how feeble.
[Those definitely don't look like they're good for walking. Still...
Revali turns to the rest]
But I doubt this thing fell from the sky onto that house. It must have gotten here by walking, no?
[Does anyone know if these titans like...can levitate or something? Because really, those are some seriously weak-looking legs!]
[ well Rex is with the boys so he's just. awkwardly third wheeling for this conversation. ]
...you're still here, right? So...it's not quite the end.
[ he doesn't sound fully convinced himself, though. He hardly knows these people, who is he to offer comfort? Not to mention something just doesn't feel right about all this. ]
[ he's much more alarmed by the continued chatter from the seniors, because if one person can do it then there's potential for more.
and that 'titan' had to come from somewhere, and something tells him none of the four of them are equipped to be dealing with something of that size. in response to yukio and revali he's just going to respond: ]
Legs and arm are on top of the building, rather than at ground level- and the roof collapsed in on itself, it looks like.
But it couldn't have walked, could it? Was it thrown or summoned somehow? Or on the roof before a transformation of some sort was induced...?
[Revali definitely isn't butting into the conversation, he's just mumbling to himself. He's still staring at the titan. Turn into a titan? That can happen?
Huh. Maybe it's like a disease. You get it and one day, you turn into a titan and wreck the house you live in. Maybe this person lived in this house here and it happened, and now that's why it's just nested there in the house, with weak limbs and all.
It'd certainly explain how it got here in the first place! But it doesn't explain the destruction in other places. Hm...]
Perhaps this once was a normal person on the roof, and it turned into...this.
[ The seniors look at you strangely with your theories. Clearly this is just a weird happenstance, nothing to look at here. They turn to look at Connie, now that they can afford the time to do so and walk towards him, the blond, and Rex. ]
"Hey, did you see any dead bodies?"
[ Connie shakes his head. The blond boy shakes his head and responds with "No."
And then you hear a voice. It comes from everywhere at once.
It's Bertolt's voice. ]
"I didn't see any either."
[ The seniors look at each other in confusion. ]
"Is this even possible? For titans to destroy a whole village without leaving a single drop of blood behind?"
[ One of the seniors, clearly forcing a positive attitude. ]
"I'd say this means they all managed to escape in time! Because if they really had been devoured, there would've been at least some traces left. But there's none, which means no one got eaten, I'm sure!"
[ Connie waits for a second, tears pooling at the corners of his eyes as he starts to accept this. He's starting to look hopeful.
But more importantly, Rex shakes his head as well. ]
I didn't see any bodies either. But...someone mentioned something about people turning into these things?
Maybe that's what this was. [ gestures to the titan crushing the house. ] And...maybe everyone else here. They just...turned into giants and walked away?
[ as he says it, his voice turns upwards as though in question, like this is too ridiculous to be possible. But, well. These giants are pretty impossible too. ]
[Revali says to the rest of the group. Let Rex handle the seniors, tell the rest of Chasma characters:]
You'd think a bunch of giants would leave more widespread destruction than this. [Like, there's destruction, but there's also a lot of stuff still standing, people in houses, and as they mentioned, no blood. It brings one thought to Revali, honestly:] If they turn giant perhaps they turned back to normal size and now are in this town at this very moment.
[Perhaps they're residents of this place. Still, apparently Revali is thinking people turning giant is kind of a quirk of this...world, not having grasped yet how dangerous titans truly can be]
It does appear to have destroyed the house as it transformed, rather than simply falling. But it doesn't make sense for there to be an entire village like that, if it's a rare ability.
so roxis just about jumps out of his skin as that haunting voice rings out while they're being shepherded back, having to bring a hand to his chest as he whirls and glances back. unfortunately for me i didn't roll a 1 so goddammit. :unamused:

"Connie, fall back!"
[ The giant humanoid still doesn't move. ]
REGROUPING
"It's a Titan!"
"Fall back, at once!"
"Check the surroundings!"
[ They're looking at the titan in fear as the blond boy starts to pull Connie away from the house.
Through all this noise, the titan still does not move.
It's eyes remain entirely focused on Connie. ]

Is walking itself here the only option?

"Unless you're Yeager--"
"Oh come on, who else can turn into a titan?!"
[ The seniors respond to Yukio. They seem a little more at ease seeing how the titan can't walk anywhere. They're relatively safe, it seems.
Connie and the blond guy are walking away, talking in low voices. The blond guy speaks first. ]
"Any survivors?"
"No one survived, Reiner. It's... the end... there's no one anymore.
My home doesn't exist anywhere anymore."
[ Reiner looks upset as he places a hand on Connie's shoulder in sympathy.
You feel unnerved as you watch Reiner sympathize with Connie. ]

They're herding everyone back to the horses.
