When you wake, you wake up to a setting unfamiliar to most of you. For those more savvy, this is Seoul, Korea, except the buildings are overran by alien overgrowth and there are bodies—human, demonic species, and monster—everywhere among the fallen debris. There are some familiar faces among the scattered corpses within your periphery... Specifically, a young man with long locks and an angel. They're mangled, eyes lifeless, and there is no hope for them already. The setting has the architecture of a modern world of Earth, which may be foreign to some of you. It isn't peaceful here. Not at all. You hear the sound of clashing metal and the roars of something inhuman. Screams and battle cries come in choruses, like stories being aggressively etched into history so they won't be forgotten.
As you focus on your surroundings more, you see a castle ahead towards the center of this ragged city. It's dark and towers over everyone, reaching into the clouds in the sky. The architecture is one to admire, but it must be difficult to pay it more mind when monsters flood from its open gates. These monsters wreak havoc, attacking everything in sight. It's... So much and they come in waves. Within this short time, the group will see several (Rin, Van Zieks, and Xie Lian) taking blows and giving blows against these monsters. There are several groups fighting the droves back to protect those that can't.
Furhter back, there is a spot where Alphinaud is caring for the wounded (Power, Susato, and Faran). Unfortunately... There are some dead bodies that are covered. Alphinaud might not have had enough time to tend to them.
"It's time, Incarnations! The main scenario is moving forward!"
A system message will pop up for each individual.
MAIN SCENARIO #9 ― DEMON'S PROOF
CATEGORY: Main DIFFICULTY: A++ CLEAR CONDITIONS: Hunt the demon species, collect nine (9) Demon’s Proof and place them on the altar on the 2nd floor of Dark Castle. TIME LIMIT: 23 days COMPENSATION: 50,000 coins FAILURE: ―
Currently, people here have collected 7/9 demon's proof, meaning they need 2 more to move on. Characters will be able to understand, just from looking at the scene, that this is humanity's last bastion. There are some actions you can take, questions you can ask, before you move onto the very first phase. ]
[scouting forward a bit with the intention of identifying the best time to make a run for the castle between waves of monsters! she'll be doing her best to conceal herself and not draw attention from the monsters themselves.]
[ Talking amongst yourselves? Maybe share skillsets if that's what your character wants to do? Or maybe discuss how... Weird this is? I don't know. I don't know your character's lives. ]
[well. this is weird, but honestly by now sheba was expecting some kind of weirdness.
she'll try to get her companions' attention.]
Hey. We won't just have to leave them on the second floor of the castle - the demons can only be found in the castle. So let's not waste our time looking for them anywhere else.
[ Dokja and Joonghyuk gather those left who are going to help you four get into the gate. People look haggard, but it's fine... It seems that Dokja has calculated the peak time to start running, though it unfortunately means having to cut through the tail end of seven minutes of monster flooding. It isn't a short distance to get to the gates.
Joonghyuk doesn't even ask if you guys are ready. There isn't time and you all start off strong when the time comes. The initial numbers of the wave are already fighting others on the field, like earlier. Xie Lian, despite downing one of the largest monsters that mirror a bear, has his chest claws through. Blood streams fly in the air... Rin tries to back him up.
On the other side as they keep running through the terrain, another man who casts spells using his cigars as a medium. For a moment, he pauses when he sees Flat run by. His expression twists into weariness, but what a mistake. Another monster attacks him from behind. He tries to use his cigars to put up a barrier... Maybe you can save him?
Somewhere in the farther distance from your path, under a pile of bodies, is a girl... Trembling in fear. Maybe she can also be saved?
These two are too far from your path to the castle and there are still a number of people on the battlegrounds fighting the monsters. What will you all choose? ]
they need to get to the castle. they need to, but they can't just turn a blind eye to the people getting hurt here, can they?
sheba grits her teeth, wincing as the bear-like monster claws through xie lian's chest. no, no - she wants to rush over there. it's not real, she reminds herself, but still has to focus to keep from running over.
instead, she glares, and sparks fly from her fingertips to connect with the creature. from the look on her face, it's not as much of an impact as she'd like.
the other two, though... they're in trouble...]
Does anyone have any long-range skills we can use to help them?!
[she's still running, but she doesn't want them to just leave them behind.]
[ After placing the two proofs on the altar, the total of nine glow and the staircase is no longer blocked. Everyone receives 50,000 coins from completing Demon's Proof. A system message appears and updates!
MAIN SCENARIO #9 ― 73rd Demon King
CATEGORY: Main DIFFICULTY: SS CLEAR CONDITIONS: You are eligible to participate in the last scenario of Dark Castle. Gather three (3) rankers to go up to the third floor of Dark Castle and enter the final scenario. TIME LIMIT: 30 days COMPENSATION: 100,000 coins FAILURE: Death.
They can ascend the steps, though it's longer than they expected, and they're taken to... Plains. This doesn't look like the third floor at all. They can see blades of grass dance to the wind? It almost seems like a different realm entirely. No stairs to take you to the third floor to be found. A system message appears again. The main scenario updates.
MAIN SCENARIO #9 ― ???
CATEGORY: Main DIFFICULTY: ??? CLEAR CONDITIONS: ??? TIME LIMIT: ― COMPENSATION: None FAILURE: ―
Isn't... This weird? Bihyung looks bored, sighing when the system message pops up, but doesn't say more. The chat also goes silent, like the Constellations have lost interest.
There are trees to the northwest, some monsters roaming around, but they don't attack yet. They do, obviously, come to attack and before you all can get ready to kill again, the cavalry arrives. A group of people ride on black unicorns (Kaeya, Satariel, Nero, and Faran) come to the rescue. They help slay the monsters and mention that there is a fortress nearby. You four can rest there, they say.
In this fortress beyond tall concrete walls looks to be a haven. When they walk in, they see all types of races mingling peacefully. Humans (some familiar humans), demons, furries (some pretty familiar furries) like yourselves, and the like of all ages. It's a quaint place with paved streets and solid buildings, families out for walks and children playing games at a nearby park. It's decorated to feel homely. It feels safe.
You're led to a white house on a hill in this haven, surrounded by beautiful white flowers. The man who comes out looks like this. He introduces himself as Reinheit von Djerba, the founder of this haven from the scenarios. This place is called Paradise. Reinheit tells you all to get adjusted, have your wounds checked at the clinic (they will help stop the bleeding and patch you guys up to be able to move better), and to rest up. The main scenario can wait.
Where will you go? What will you do? Do you want to talk to anyone in particular?
It looks like Diluc and Kaeya are conversing next to the black unicorn... Sholmes is also pitifully feeding pigeons with the most bored look EVER. There's also Denji. Denji is watering some flowers. And then there's this familiar boy (protagonist from DDLC) only to Monika, not wearing a school uniform, writing into a notebook.
Bihyung is always around. There's also Reinheit, founder of Paradise, who offers you a tour. ]
... Wait, why did the scenario suddenly disappear?
[Hello? Bihyung? Say something? That said, she's sure going to stop and stare with her singular eye when she catches sight of that boy... She looks conflicted.]
[ The grand finale...! First of all, everyone is rewarded with 100,000 coins!
You guys destroyed paradise. You can see as you ride away on black unicorns and... in a pea car the town crumbles. Leftover monsters that were still in the cavern have surfaced, attacking those that are desperately evacuating. Now they're fighting again, they're back in the scenarios again. Their peaceful lives are over.
You remember that you did this to them. You've taken away their solace. Maybe it's best to look away, in case you see the end for some of the people you love. On the next floor, you are met with a gate with pillars mirroring the pantheon. There is an altar here, too. When all four of you place your hands, the system message asks if you four want to enter the scenario.
... You've came so far. You can't go back, can you?
All four of you are transported to a small passage way and the system message comes, an update for the scenario:
MAIN SCENARIO #10 ― 73rd Demon King
CATEGORY: Main DIFFICULTY: SS+ CLEAR CONDITIONS: Slay the 73rd Demon King. TIME LIMIT: 30 minutes COMPENSATION: 200,000 coins, escape from this illusion. FAILURE: Death and expulsion from the scenarios.
This seems simple. You guys have killed... So many things! And people! But as you walk the narrow hallway, you see corpses strewn along. They're human and sparks are coming off of them. Bihyung shows up, looking confused?
"Hey! Who's trying to manipulate the scenario!" He looks around, "Constellations, please be patient!"
You might not understand yet, but you will understand when you finally reach the large throne room. On the steps, you will see there's the towering throne, but no Demon King seated on it. Instead, there is a glowing green jewel resting on it. Some Constellations tried to cheat their way to this scenario, killed the Demon King, and was "punished." Except this is all according to plan.
... The will of the universe, the Star Stream, will fix this. Another message comes:
MAIN SCENARIO #10 ― 73rd Demon King
CATEGORY: Main DIFFICULTY: SS+ CLEAR CONDITIONS: You can choose one of two ways. Take possession of the throne and become the 73rd demon king, or kill the newly born 73rd demon king. The scenario can only be cleared by choosing one of these two methods and there is no other way to proceed. TIME LIMIT: 30 minutes COMPENSATION: 200,000 coins, escape from this illusion. FAILURE: Death and expulsion from the scenarios.
Two options is a lie, what it means is there are two sides. Become the Demon King and kill the three challengers or be part of the group that kills the newly born Demon King.

Items and skills have different gradings to rate their performance, from F to SSS grade, as well as Star Relics, though this ranking is relative to the level of the Scenarios. Star Relics aren't necessarily stronger or weaker than letter graded items, and are essentially distinguished by the connection they have to a Constellation.

PHASE 3: BOSS BATTLE
MOOD MUSIC: メインテーマ曲『咏叹回声』
All four of you are transported to a small passage way and the system message comes, an update for the scenario:
