ROLE: MAGPIE alisaie

finder's keepers

On Tuesday, at 11 AM, Taftosimi catches Alisaie's attention. Both will innately know that they have somewhere to be, and Taftosimi will be able to lead the way—even if they've never been there before. Despite settling, his form changes to that of a magpie, and will point out certain items to bring with them to their destination. Somewhere along the way, Yomiel appears to offer a terse greeting.

After finishing their business, Alisaie and Taftosimi will not be able to return to this location again without being invited back, regardless of whether they attempt to return on the same day or in the same week. Taftosimi will be able to take his new magpie form again on his own, but will revert to his black-footed cat form upon leaving. Alisaie and Taftosimi both will know that this form cannot be shared openly, and that caution should be practiced with sharing it privately, as well.


As the magpie, Alisaie will be presented with three items each week, and she may keep only one. Each item has the potential to have a positive effect on the competition and its participants, a negative effect, or may do something completely different. No information will be offered regarding each item until Alisaie has made her choice. Only then will the effects of the item chosen be revealed. Choose wisely!

Additionally, Alisaie may use this time to speak directly with her assigned Watcher, Yomiel. She may ask questions, receive small hints, or simply chat with them, though any information received will be subject to Yomiel's own discretion.

[oh hey there sup, haven't spoken with you too much. But that's okay! Having glanced up to alert her to who was there, Taftosimi goes back to hunting through their surroundings, making little chattering noises as he tips his head to examine any items of potential interest.

Alisaie gestures in the direction of the little magpie.]

What is this? Taf hasn't changed forms since Otamo, and even ere then this wasn't one of them.

And under other circumstances, he still wouldn't shift. It's because you were chosen for this role that he has the extra form.

[veraltwin]

A role? [She's visibly startled; THE TIMING ON THIS....... but then she folds her arms, smiling in spite of herself.]

If you keep this up, I'm going to begin wondering if anything we say is truly private here.

What am I meant to do in this role?

[grigori]

Privacy only goes to a certain point. We're not actively spying on you, but we all know what happened in Otamo.

[ anyway. business. ]

Your daemon's meant to help you find special things. You get to choose one to keep, and then what you do with it is up to you, depending on what it turns out to be. It could be messages, or new abilities, or something else.

Before you ask, I don't have anything to do with it, and I can't tell you what anything is until after you choose. We just have to live with it.

[veraltwin]

[Ah. Her smile fades a bit, but... well.]

That wasn't what I meant, though I'd have been surprised if you weren't aware of my... misdeeds. Alphinaud and I were simply wondering what roles existed only a couple nights ago.

[But yeah, business! Important details. She listens closely, and she'll take a moment to consider what they're saying before she speaks.]

Are all these things meant to be helpful? Or need I worry about selecting something that will make our lives more difficult instead?

[grigori]

[ dryly: ] Surprise.

Some of them might help, others might hurt. Some might do a little of both. [ they shrug. ] It just depends on what you find, and what you pick.

[veraltwin]

[why are you like this who hurt you]

[veraltwin]

And you can't tell me anything about them until I choose. Very well.

[For a moment she's silent, waiting with them while Taf chatters and then, finding an item of particular interest, calls. Once it's in hand, she looks in their direction again.]

You need not respond, but I'm sorry you lost someone last week.

[And they can just. Wait for Taf to find the other two items if Yomiel doesn't respond!]

[grigori]

I'm not the first who has.

[ ... ]

But thanks.

[veraltwin]

[She sees you tsunning.]

You aren't. But neither are you the type to openly share your grief where others might offer succor. Holding onto it will do you no good.

[Trust her. She knows.]

If you would like to speak of him, I'd gladly listen while Taf continues his search. If not, I hope you've spoken to somebody, or you plan to do so.

[ they take a moment to mouth "succor" before answer ]

I did, on Friday. That's enough for now.

...Though I can tell you now that he had the role first - just don't go telling everyone else that.

[veraltwin]

[Welcome to Eorzea bullshit speak, Yomiel.]

Good. Then we'll leave it at that.

I'll keep that information to myself, but am I allowed to tell my brother about this? [She makes a general gesture between herself, Yomiel, and their daemons.] His insight could prove invaluable on how best to make use of the item I select.

[Beat.] If I fail to use it this week, will it disappear? Or can it be used at a later time?

[grigori]

You can tell up to two people who don't have a role of their own without consequences. There's a punishment if either you or the people you tell are too open about it, like what happened in that trial, and since this role's mine to watch, it'll fall mostly on me.

[ so that's fun! ]

Tsurumaru's choices stayed with him unless he gave them away, so I don't think you'll have to worry about it disappearing before you get what you want out of it.

[veraltwin]

[A frown.] I believe my brother would have told me if he had a role, but I'm not certain. You don't know, do you?

But I will be discreet. I would not like to get you in trouble, Yomiel.

[And at this point, Taf is going to find the third choice! Once she's retrieved it, he flutters up to her shoulder, ruffling his wings.]

Am I correct in guessing these are the items I can choose from this week? [How the heck is she meant to tell what will be of use...? She'll glance back over toward the Watcher.]

Is this simply a game of chance, or is there aught you can share in the way of advice on how to make my selection?

[grigori]

I do know, but I can't tell you. You have to figure out any others on your own.

[ they sigh, and she can probably hear the note of frustration in it. ]

"Watchers" can't help you make the decision. Pick at random or pick something that looks nice, or whatever. It's all chance.

[veraltwin]

[She gives a little derisive "hmm" at that. That's stupid.]

Well, it's hardly your fault you're bound by these stupid rules. Then...

[Give her a moment, this is a tough decision! But finally Alisaie will reach out to take the dragon scale.]

This one, I think.

[veraltwin]

Selecting the dragon scale this week!

[grigori]

[ once the decision is made, all three items turn into golden dust and fade away. as they disappear, alisaie will realize that the item she has chosen will automatically plant false evidence for a murder this week. ]

[grigori]

[ well.

they curse under their breath. ]

[Her cursing isn't even under her breath.]

Damn it all! [Alisaie grips her hands into fists, fury sweeping her for a moment.] That was one of the options?

[She looks toward Yomiel again, and though she's glaring, it's not meant for them.] I've two more questions for you. Can I tell Alphinaud the effect of the item I selected, since I'll be telling him my role?

And secondly, can you tell me what the others might have done, or is that information lost now?

[grigori]

If you're trusting him with the role, you can tell him. It's just the same rules where he's got to be careful with that information, too.

[ ...you know, they've not been asked this before? might as well try. if they get dusted, they get dusted. ]

One could heal, the other would give you the ability to fly for a short time. Another feather on your coin, basically.
