I don't have an answer for that. It could be insurance so we don't actively try to interfere somehow, but they're already turning us to dust for saying things.

I guess that depends on what you believe in. Or how the order of that world works. Say, if you lived someplace where the entire course of your life was scripted from beginning to end... There are a lot of theories about alternate universes, and branching timelines too.
